ST. BARTHOLOMEW ORGAN REPAIR FUND
For more than sixty years, the magnificent organ at
St. Bartholomew’s Church has enriched our liturgies with
beautiful music.
Installed in 1962, the organ was custom designed and built
by one of Europe’s leading organ builders, the Verschueren
Organ Company of Holland. Now the organ requires extensive
restoration to preserve its exceptional sound quality and ensure
it continues to serve our parish for generations to come.
The first phase of restoration is already underway thanks to a
generous grant from The Frederick Mirabito Foundation.
Future restoration phases include:
-
- Releathering the Great Ventil Pneumatics;
- - A complete console rebuild with updated wiring and PVC-
- coated cables;
- - Removing, cleaning, and reinstalling every pipe;
- - Removal, repair and reinstallation of the upper pedal rack;
- - Replacement of two blower motors and several other
- much needed repairs.
If an organization would like to help preserve this treasured instrument and support the future of sacred music at St. Bartholomew’s Church, please consider contributing to the Organ Repair Fund by contacting the parish office at 607-337- 2215. Together, we can ensure that the beautiful voice of our organ continues to inspire worship for many generations to come.

We have recently had trees removed that were either dead or in bad shape. Risk Management at the Diocese of Syracuse visits parishes each year, and they advised us that they should be taken down. We received a grant in order to do this work. There are other improvements to be completed in the coming months which are also covered by grants or a combination of parishioner donations and grants. They include: • Church entrance and walkway repairs (concrete that has deteriorated by the Church and parish center and former rectory); • Church ramp is in need of repairs; • First phase of the Church organ repair project which includes repairing the organ’s wind chests—on which the pipes are set and which allow them to sound when played and repair of leather puffers; • One of the parish center classrooms will be divided for use by the religious education program.

Dispensation from Sunday Mass is discontinued. The Catholic faithful are asked to resume their full and active participation in the Eucharistic Liturgy through physical attendance at the Saturday Vigil Mass or Sunday Mass. Anyone who is frail or at risk due to advanced age or medical conditions is ALWAYS excused from this obligation. Caregivers, too, may have to use prudential judgment about attendance at Mass, carefully considering the risk factors involved.
